A dangerous Weed Invades Uganda

A plant known as PARTHENIUM HYSTERPHORUS (carrot weed)has invaded Uganda.

The plant has beautiful flowers which attract people to grow it as a flower plant in their compounds and around their homes.

Here below are some of its known effects;

  • Grows out of hand and colonises all the land.
  • One plant can produce up to 25000 seeds.
  • It stops other plants from growing.
  • It reduces crop and animal production.
  • Taints milk and meat of livestock
  • It causes severe skin rash in humans.
  • It causes bronchitis and asthma.
