Land preparation
It is important that the land is prepared before the rain season sets. Most farmers don’t start cultivating unless it has rained, and this leads them to plant late and that is one of the reasons why we cannot get food on time. This also leads to fewer yields. On this note, I encourage my fellow farmers to practice timely planting

Planting
After preparing the land, wait for the rain to fall and as soon as it rains, plant. To prepare peas seeds for planting, you may plant it direct or you may first soak it in warm water for 24 hours. Add fertilizers like a week or more before planting, then plant. Plant 2 seeds per hole from 1 to ½ inch deep as you add little soil.
Care must be given to the plants. Weed as soon as weeds appear. The leaves may be used to add fertility to the soil.

Harvesting
This is done from 60 to 90 days depending on the type.Sun dry it before removing from the pods. To check if it’s dry, you may bite the seeds and if they have a cracking noise, then they are dry, remove from the sun. Later you may sun dry it again to control possible pests and more drying
When dry, peas can be fried and pounded to make soup. Oil extracted from it can be used as a contraceptive by women.

I request all farmers to care for their gardens and also, plant on time in order to realize higher yields.
